Most of the games for this programs will take place at the end of the recreational season.

Girls selected to these teams will practice and play together starting in April and will play against teams from other towns through scheduled games and/or tournaments. Cheshire Youth Softball 14u In-town program & 16u softball team for the 2010 Spring Softball Season

As part of Cheshire Youths Softballs continuing effort to offer softball to our areas teen-age girls, we will be expanding our program for 14u &16u girls this spring. Based on the number of girls moving up from our 12u program, we should see a minimum of three 14u teams for this age group. They will play an in-town format with the possibility of limited play with teams from out of town that have already expressed an interest in playing our teams here in Cheshire.

The goals of these programs are to:

1. To provide an opportunity for girls who have recently played in or exited our softball program. The program is also open to girls who may not have played softball or may have played in another organization.

2. To establish the next level of play for our girls who will be moving up from our 12u& 14u programs.

3. To provide the support, practice and opportunity to play Pony Rules, which is the broadly accepted Rules of Play required outside our recreational program.

In order to remain flexible to the girls/parents, who will solidify these programs, we recognize that many questions can only be answered after we know the number, skill levels and desires of the Girls who register. Probable formats will be full recreational play in our CYSB league, out of CYSB league scrimmages, Local Tournament play and/or a mix of all. We recognize that the program needs to reflect what the girls want to play but also that it is the correct time to move up to Pony Rules. This is necessary to prepare them for organized play beyond CYSB in their future softball years and hopefully in a future CYSB 18U league.

Girls who are not older than 16 years of age on December 31, 2009 are eligible for play in the spring 2010 program. The 14u & 16u programs are open to all Cheshire girls; previous CYSB play is not required

IMPORTANT:

We realize that girls decision to play may be impacted by whether or not she is selected to play on the Dodd or High School teams and that in most cases these teams are not selected until after the CYS registration has closed. We ask that even though you may be selected for one of those teams, that you also register with CYS during the registration period. This will help us to get an understanding of interest and plan accordingly. In the event that a girl is selected for a school team and wishes not to play in CYS, a full refund will be issued. We ask for your help in the process so that we can plan and provide the best possible experience for those girls wishing to play within CYS.

Please talk to your players/friends and register early which will provide more time to customize the program to the Girls. We are looking forward to an exciting new opportunity for our Girls.
