Coaching at Cheshire Youth Baseball and Softball
Great coaching goes beyond the game. It shapes how young athletes approach challenges, learn from setbacks, and grow both on and off the field. At CYB, we are committed to providing a coaching environment that emphasizes skill development, teamwork, and character-building, ensuring every player has the support they need to reach their full potential.
That’s why our coaches don’t just bring a love for the game—they come prepared with training, certification, and a shared commitment to player development.
Investing in Our Coaches
Currently, 75 CYB&S coaches are actively undergoing Little League and USA Baseball training, with even more completing background screenings to uphold our high standards. Every year, our volunteers complete:
- Background Checks – 100% of our coaches pass national screenings to ensure a safe environment.
- Abuse Awareness & Prevention Training – Mandated SafeSport or USA Baseball training to protect players.
- Concussion & Safety Training – Coaches are trained to recognize and properly respond to injuries.
- Certified Skill Development Training – Focused on mechanics, age-appropriate drills, and structured practices.
Beyond these essentials, CYB&S coaches benefit from ongoing education, including collaboration with the Cheshire High School coaching staff and specialized coaching clinics hosted by Quinnipiac University. These partnerships ensure that our coaches stay up to date with the latest in player development, coaching strategies, and leadership techniques.

CYB is proud to provide coaches with free access to Little League University, an extensive resource designed to help coaches enhance their skills. This platform offers expert advice, video demonstrations, and structured training plans at no cost.
